The South-West branch is managed by volunteers who give their time to enable a local and useful function for the benefit of regional membership. This includes local promotion, representation on national committees, professional development, P2C workshops and arranging CPD events. As such it is an important part of our profession.
We’d like to involve more of the 800 members within our region to be a more effective organisation, and active participation from the membership is an essential part of this. The Committee seek proposals from members for roles within the Branch to help take it forward.
Members can be nominated (or nominate themselves) for any of the posts, but in particular this year, there are vacancies for Committee Members, and, as I’ll be standing down this year, the Communications Rep. post will also become vacant. We’re also keen to work more closely with students through the Student Rep. posts and would welcome nominations from current students.
Whilst this involvement will clearly benefit the wider profession it also offers great potential for personal development, contributes to your CPD and provides excellent networking opportunities. The LISW Committee is a diverse, experienced and supportive team and decisions are taken together.
The AGM and election for these posts is on 28th April. If you have an interest in shaping our local direction we would like to hear from you.
- For further information, please see the committee roles descriptions.
- If you are interested in standing for one of the roles, please complete a nomination form by Monday 25th April.
